Week 14 Overview

We began week 14 before Thanksgiving and finished up the last three days of November. Although, that was just last week, it seems like ages ago. Here's a few things we worked on:

We finished listening to a full dramatic reading of the classic Little Women by Louisa May Alcott~ it was wonderful! Though, some of us wanted Josephine to many Mr. Laurie, which she did not. Oh, and Mr. Laurie married Jo's sister, Amy, instead. The horror. We will watch the movie at the end of week 15.

Began memorizing Philippians 4:4-9, as we discuss how to treat others, especially when we disagree.

Bible Field Guide- Job, Ecclesiastes, and Psalms, King Solomon, and wisdom.

History- Rome and Nero, the evil emperor, catacombs, Constantine (the emperor that became a Christian), the British rebellion against Rome, Rome divided in two, barbarians, Attila the Hun, and Stilicho and the Visigoths.

3rd grade math- multiple ways to compute multiplication problems, such as 300 x 4 can be solved by multiplying 3 x 4, then adding two zeros on the end, or 42 x 5 can be solved by (40 x 5) + (2 x 5), so 200 + 10 = 210, and finally, we learned to multiply double digits by single digits using the standard algorithm (the way all us older folks know). Here is an example:

6th grade math- adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions through real world problems, such as advertising, recipes, and discounts & sale prices.

3rd grade science- ocean litter, ocean damage, overfishing, global warming and greenhouse gases, wind and water power, spiders and insects in motion, tricks and traps of insects as predators.

Grammar- singular and plural nouns; past and present tense verbs

Vocabulary- here's a look at our word map for a lesson 6 word (we completed lesson 6)

We also had a lot of other fun times, so check out our Week in Photos ~ week 14, our next post!
