Week 16 (Friday, December 8th to Thursday, December 14th) was full of fun! First, our students performed in front of our entire co-op. Our 6th grader played two songs on the piano and our 3rd graders each recited Scripture (yes, from memory), then played a song on the piano, as well. We just need to work on slowing down a bit. That happens to us all when we get nervous. But, they were brave and did a great job!
We had our first field trip to Sweet Pete's Candy shop. This was fun and we enjoyed riding the Skyway, too.
We enjoyed some treats when our dancers had a party between dance classes.
Of course, Charlie Brown Christmas was a must to watch this week! And we had fun with some crafty items from our favorite parent and from the teacher.
Here's our learning:
We are slowly working on memorizing Philippians 4:4-9
Bible Field Guide- 1 Kings 17- 2 Kings 13, the prophets Elijah and Elisha, Israel's most evil king (Ahab, who was married to Jezebel), and Baal worship in Israel.
History (Middle Ages)- The early days of Britain, Celts of Britain, Barbarians come to Britain, Beowulf, Christianity comes to Britain, and Augustine comes to England.
Read Aloud- Christmas Cookies, This is a sweet story about how baking Christmas cookies to share the love and story of Christ. As an angel shaped cookie is shared with a stranger, so is the story of the Angel that appeared to Mary.
3rd grade math- LONG DIVISION! Well, our 3rd graders didn't take to this as fast as they did the standard algorithm for multiplication, but we will get it. We aren't going to let it beat us. We continue to work on multiplication, as well. We have next week and a couple more weeks in January before we move on to another topic, so we have plenty more division problems to complete. (The students are thrilled, I tell you.)
6th grade math- add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals
3rd grade writing- progress check in journal (I can't wait for Christmas because... and field trip response form)
3rd grade science- Book: Real Science 4 Kids/ Biology Level I
Lifecycle of the Butterfly
6th grade science- Life on Earth: animal kingdom and different habitats, ecosystems, climate change, and pollution
