Week 28 Overview

This week was a treat for the teacher because we had less extra-curricular activities to attend. This meant we could stay home more. We still enjoyed piano lessons with our amazing piano teacher!

Here's what we learned:

Bible
The first church after Jesus's ascension to Heaven. In the book of Acts, we answered the following questions:
Who are the Apostles?, Where is Jesus now?, How will Jesus return?, Who is the Holy Spirit?, What made Pentecost special?, What (who) is the church?, and How did (does) the church show love?
We also looked at the first sermon which was given by Peter.

History
The War of the Roses- The House of York and the House of Lancaster in England fought a civil war over who would rule in England in the mid to late 1400s. The symbols on their family banners were roses. Lancaster was red and York was white. There is controversy over what happened to two young brothers in these years. Both were heirs to the throne, but were sent to live in the Tower of London (after it was made into a palace in addition to it already being a jail). When Henry Tudor invaded England, the War of the Roses was finally over. He had the Tower searched, but there was no sign of the two boys. Almost 200 years later, a chest was found buried in the ground with two skeletons that are believed to be the two sons of Edward IV. We will never know what really happened to them.

Math & Science
Elapsed time for 3rd grade and Geometry measurement: perimeter & area for 6th grade.
Ecosystems for 3rd and continued elements for 6th.
Daily math review and math facts fluency for all.

Writing
We finished a series of Haiku poems based on the seasons. Enjoy them in a special post titled The Seasons in Haiku by The Coleman Academy for Girls.

Fun stuff
Egg dying! Individual field trips. Charlie Brown Easter. Check out our Week in Photos!

Reading
Shakespeare Stealer is our read aloud and we concluded our tally of books for a donation to The Kyiv Christian Academy. We read 32 chapter and nonfiction books in the month of March. A photo of most of our books is included in Week in Photos.

Happy Learning!
